Akshay Kumar has signed Samuk, an alien thriller directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Shah. The film brings in international talent while centring practical effects over full CGI.

Originally conceived in the 1980s as a high-concept sci-fi film of ideas crossed with a police procedural, 1995's Species eventually took shape as a cheesy and sleazy erotic thriller crossed with a creature feature.
